Assalamualaikum Grade 3 bookworms,
We
will be starting a reading contest that will inshAllah, continue throughout the
year. You will be expected to read appropriate chapter books for 10-20 minutes
every evening. Every page you read will count as $1 in reading points. You can
then use these points to buy awesome prizes at our reading auction (next one to
take place before march break!). Prizes may include books, toys, games and
activities. If you save up your points, you can then use them towards a bigger
and better prize at the end of the year!
To get your reading dollars, once
you complete your book, you must record it into your reading log. After your
parent initials your reading log, you may sign up for a reading conference with
Sr. Sumayya. You have to bring your book WITH you to the reading conference and
Sr. Sumayya will ask a few comprehension questions to check your understanding.
If your answers demonstrate that you have read and understood the book, Sr.
Sumayya will sign your reading log and give you your dollars!
Please make sure to read at least
3 or 4 books a month. If you have any questions, please be sure to ask or email
